A native of Salisbury, Massachusetts, Mr. MacDonald served 30 years in the U.S. Navy as an Enlisted Cryptologic Technician (Collection), Chief Warrant Officer and Limited Duty Officer. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2004, and served as Deputy Director, U.S. Navy TENCAP from 2011 through early 2019. He has extensive experience in systems engineering, research and development, prototyping, testing, training and fielding of advanced state-of-the-art tactical Cryptologic and Information Warfare systems in support of Navy and Joint forces.
Mr. MacDonald served a majority of his Navy career in cryptologic capable surface combatants deployed to the Atlantic, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Black Sea and the Middle East. He qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) on USS DEYO (DD 989) in 1984 and as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) on USS TICONDEROGA (CG 47) in 1991.
Key shore assignments include Fleet Integration and Testing Officer at Naval Information Warfare Activity, Deputy Director Cryptologic and Information Operations Training at Commander Naval Security Group, Force Cryptologist/Intelligence and Cryptologic Systems Officer at Commander Naval Surface Forces Atlantic, Director Cryptologic and Electronic Warfare Training at Fleet Combat Training Center, Atlantic, and Senior Course Manager & Instructor at the National Cryptologic School-National Security Agency.
He worked in the space and defense industry from 2004 to 2011 on the DDG-1000 Information Warfare systems design team and as a Systems Engineer and Technical Advisor to SPAWAR PEO C4ISR and Space, IO Battle Space Awareness and Information Operations PMW-120.
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Award, Good Conduct Medal (3 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
He earned a BA in Business Management from Saint Leo College, serves on the Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association Board of Directors, and is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers and the Association of Old Crows.
Ken Pomietto joined TMA in 2014 as the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Secretary. He brings over 10 years experience in finance, accounting, and government contracting. He joined TMA from Scitor Corporation where he did Financial Planning and Analysis, including annual and long-term planning. During his time at Scitor, he developed and transformed a number of the internal financial processes and played a key role in the integration of two acquisitions. Prior to joining Scitor, Ken worked at SAIC as an Accounting Manager for a $300+M Business Unit. As the Accounting Manager, he managed a team of seven accountants and successfully led the accounting team’s transition from legacy financial systems onto Costpoint. Also at SAIC, he worked as an Internal Auditor conducting financial and compliance reviews of the company’s business units and performing Sarbanes-Oxley testing. Before joining SAIC, Ken’s career began at the DOD Office of the Inspector General conducting compliance audits. Ken has a B.S.in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Robert Morris University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Retired Navy Captain Jim “Palmer” Laingen joined the company in September 2017 as TMA’s Senior Director. Captain Laingen is responsible for customer engagement, execution and solution delivery, focused on collaborative Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) technologies for the Department of Defense.
During his 29 year Navy career, Captain Laingen served in a variety of posts including as an E-2C Hawkeye Naval Flight Officer, amassing over 2500 flight hours, completing five operational deployments including support to operations DESERT STORM, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM, and commanding the Wallbangers of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 117. He also served as Director of the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS) at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC), and as a Tactical Action Officer on USS EISENHOWER (CVN-69).
As Branch Head for Command and Control (C2) and ISR systems for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare (N2N6), he led the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process for multiple platforms, tactical data networks and associated systems. He also led Coalition interoperability efforts as Chairman of NATO Joint Capability Group for Command and Control (JCG C2) and the AUSCANNZUKUS FVEY Maritime Information Warfare Organization Executive Steering Committee.
In his final tour, Captain Laingen served as liaison to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and Director of the Navy’s Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) office, where he managed numerous projects that enhanced the Navy’s warfighting capability by accessing and leveraging national systems and development efforts.
Mr. Laingen personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal and Navy/Marine Corps Commendation medal. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Science in Technology Management from the University of Maryland University College.
